MISSION STATEMENT Around the clock and around the globe, during times of personal crisis, Red Cross keeps the American people in touch with their family members serving in the Armed Forces. TYPES OF MESSAGES: Birth, Death, Illness or Injury, or Child Care Breakdowns for single Marines: ü To verify situation so command can make a leave decision. ü Sent for members of the immediate family or persons who took the place of a parent for 5 or more years. Health & Welfare: ü To restore communications when normal channels of communication have failed. Family/Financial Problems: ü Matters of a personal nature which need immediate attention Access to financial assistance is available to military members and their families – nights, weekends and holidays when Navy Relief is closed. All assistance is given on behalf of the aid societies and is provided in the form of a loan with an allotment repayment plan. Always call the Red Cross back upon receipt of a Red Cross message so we can determine if there are further needs and can close our case. The ARC offers courses designed to prevent and/or deal with the aftermath of health-related emergencies and natural disasters. Squadrons and units may institute their own Red Cross training programs at highly reduced prices by becoming Authorized Providers. Courses are normally taught by volunteer instructors. Instructor opportunities and training for new instructors are available.
