SPOTLIGHT

This page is dedicated to the groups and individuals as well as to the kind hearted children of our community, who have collected and donated money to our operation or disaster funds via American Red Cross Camp Foster.

MOSC

Marine Office Spouses Club generously donated all of the income from the October 2011 luncheon to the American Red Cross Camp Foster. The Volunteer Chair Brandy Meeker from the Red Cross Camp Foster office was the guest speaker at the luncheon, sharing an overview of the Volunteer Programs and information about Red Cross in general to the interested participants of the luncheon.

Since our volunteer programs are fully funded by monetary donations fromgroups and individuals, this generous donation of $778 will help fund the administration and training of our volunteers so that they cansupport our military community here in Okinawa.

The Volunteers of the American Red Cross MCB Camp Foster would like to express sincere appreciation and heart felt thanks to MOSC for the support
!

BECHTEL ELEMENTARY

On June 3rd our Senior Station Manager Jo An Miller and our Chair of Volunteers Brandy Meeker visited Bechtel Elementary school during their charity function. There were 20 – 30 students along with their teacher Geraldine Idzerda, all ready to start the event. The students participating in this event had sewed quilts, which they displayed in a professional manner first on tables and then showing each quilt individually to the interested buyers. There was also one big quilt that was raffled out, but the winner ended up donating a considerable amount for the cause. The students had also made a physical check out of cardboard, showing thedonation amount to the Japan Relief Fund, $997. Thank you so much!

KINSER ELEMENTARY

On June 2nd Camp Foster Red Cross office got special visitors from Kinser Elementary school. A group of students with their teacher Alice Dickenson came to present a check for the Japan Disaster fund for which they had done bake sales and other means of collecting donations for.   The check was for $300, which was a great amount for all the big effort they had put into it. American Red Cross Camp Foster is very thankful to the young ladies and gentlemen for all their efforts and appreciates the caring that these youngsters show.   What makes this all more amazing is that they also collected and donated to the North Carolina disaster at the same time, donating a check to that disaster via another venue. Thank you so much!

On May 18th Elijah Vaughan, 13 yr old son of an Air Force couple, brought in his donation money for the Japan Disaster Fund. He started collecting money after he decided to support his friends on the Mainland of Japan. For two months after the devastating earthquake and tsunami, Elijah worked hard by cutting grass for his neighbors and others to raise money for the disaster.
